What should we use the Old Victory Hall site for?

In 1960 Cromartie Estate leased to Community Representatives a piece of ground behind Spa Motors at the end of the Chisholm Trail on which the Victory Hall, the then Community hall, stood. The lease stipulates that the building and ground should be used as a Social Service Centre and Village Hall and for no other purpose without the consent of the Estate.

The Victory Hall burned down many years ago and the site has remained unused, since first the portacabin and now our new Community Centre have been sited on adjacent ground owned by the Highland Council.

The Volunteer Fire Service has indicated that the site might be suitable for a new village Fire Station and Cromartie Estate has confirmed that it would have no objection to this new use.

If you have any other suggestions for how this site could be used to the benefit of the whole community, please come to a public meeting on 29 January 2003 in the Community Centre at 7.30 pm so that the Community can decide on a future use for this piece of land.

Remember, any ideas must be in the spirit of the lease and be acceptable to the Cromartie Estate.
