    New Shinty Club

With one eye firmly fixed on youth development, a new shinty club was constituted this week. The Caberfeidh Junior Shinty Club was set up with the aims of developing our indigenous Highland sport at youth level. Following a model set by some of the more progressive clubs; many senior players have shown a willingness to get involved in the coaching process. Those players will undergo Camanachd Association courses in order to then go into the Caberfeidh catchment / feeder primary schools and stimulate an interest in the game. A new junior league will eventually be set up, and it is proposed that the children will also be able to field teams for existing competitions at both 6 and 12 a-side.

Although shinty has always been strong in the Strath, there has been a decline in the peripheral areas, and as any sporting club operating at senior level knows; a strong youth policy is the rock on which any successful club must now operate.

We hope that many youngsters will take up this new exciting opportunity to swing a caman - enjoy themselves in the process - and eventually start challenging some of the Cabers 'old crocks' for a place in the first team.

Caberfeidh to lift the Camanachd Cup by 2010? …

    Well why not! Information:

Further information will be issued by the Club as it becomes available.

Alternatively, contact can be made via the schools.
